Personal Description:
I am a first year university student taking my bachelors degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I graduated high school with an International Baccalaureate Diploma and received the Book Award award from St. Thomas University when I was 17 years old as well as numerous other academic awards. I have been a committed student for many years and look forward to being able to help others!
Tutoring Experience:
I regularly assist family and friends with academic work. At the high school school level, I love helping revise academic papers, helping with literary analysis, providing writing tips and helping students learn global mindsets and concepts in geography. I especially look to help International Baccalaureate students as I am very familiar with the expectations and mark schemes! At the elementary level, I regularly help siblings with mathematic concepts, problem solving and basic writing skills. I have worked with other students anywhere from ages 8-18 many times and look forward to helping many more!
Tutoring Approach:
I believe an approach to tutoring should always be centred around patience and guidance. I do not believe it should be completing someones work for them, but instead helping them identify problems, find solutions, problem solve and learn new ways to study and approach their work. I think being open, friendly and optimistic is especially crucial, especially for younger kids and I love to be able to help and show them new techniques and patterns!
