Personal Description:

Hello there! My name is Lillian. I am half English and half Chinese. I was born in England and grew up in Hong Kong. I then went back to England for boarding school and later completed my Psychology degree at the University of York. After university I went to Japan where I worked as an English teacher for two years, and now I am travelling and working in Whistler, Canada!

In my free time I enjoy baking, reading, and catching up with friends. I can play the piano, sing (badly), and I love learning songs in different languages. I am very passionate about travel and love meeting people from all around the world!

Tutoring Experience:

I have volunteered at an English summer school programme for underprivileged children in Hong Kong and as a teacher's assistant at a primary school in York.
I acquired my CELTA at the University of York after an intensive 5 week training period. I worked as an Assistant Language Teacher on the JET Programme in Japan for two years at a Japanese High School.

Tutoring Approach:

I am passionate about travelling, music, and food, and love to incorporate all three into my teaching. I studied theatre studies at school and have been in school musicals so I carry that energy and theatrics into my lessons too! It works wonders on quieter kids and adults.

Whether it is following a curriculum, focusing on specific skills, or needing to pass an English Language ability test (TOEC, IELTs), I always ask what the student is looking for. I always make sure to assess the child/adult's needs before beginning.
