Personal Description:

Hi! I am a first-year university student at McMaster in the life sciences gateway program!
It was during high school that I realized my love for not only teaching, but for chemistry as well. Also, I noticed that I actually enjoyed teaching chemistry as much as I did learning it! So, I am grateful to have the opportunity to relay my knowledge in chemistry to others!

Tutoring Experience:

I have enjoyed tutoring for as long as I can remember. In the eighth grade, I would stay at school after school hours to aid and mentor my peers that had received marks below the passing average in science and math. Also, I got the opportunity to gain more teaching experience through taking the place of teachers for specific classes when they would be absent. Lastly, in the twelfth grade, I had been assigned by the Academic Quality Controller (of the eleventh and twelfth grades) to help and assist students in the eleventh grade with the subjects they were struggling with. This involved one-on-one sessions that took during place during break-time at school. All these experiences had allowed me to realize my passion for allowing individuals to feel confident and comfortable with the material they are learning.

Tutoring Approach:

-I always begin by ensuring that the tutee has enough background knowledge to enable them to feel relaxed with the more complex concepts to come.
-We will address the main issue at hand and work forwards from there, covering all the concepts that the tutee finds challenging.
-I will adjust my teaching pace to match the tutee's preferred learning pace.
-I will show them a great note-taking method that I have found to be particularly useful.
My main goal is to the tutee to feel more comfortable, confident, and relaxed when learning chemistry!
