Personal Description:

I am a private math tutor with several years of experience. My goal is to become a college professor myself, and provide tutoring in elementary school math, pre-algebra, and algebra as well as preparation for GED Math and SAT Math sections. As an aspiring educator, I continue to refine my methodology, stress interaction with the student, and encourage them as much as possible.

Tutoring Experience:

I worked as a math, ESL, and SAT tutor for a collegiate academy where I tutored students privately and in classes of up to 10. I earned a bachelor's degree in Art History and English Literature, a Master of Philosophy in Art History, and am a doctoral candidate at present. Also, I worked as a Teaching Assistant Liaison in the education department of an esteemed photography group.

Tutoring Approach:

I follow a progressive inquiry-based learning approach. In the first session, I assess the student's goals and each of our expectations. I look at the methods that the student's school prefers. When a student hits a roadblock with a concept, I try to find a new approach, whether looking at it from a wider perspective or concentrating on a smaller component of it.
