Personal Description:

I tutor SAT and ACT preparation and related subjects, including math topics up to precalculus. During tutoring sessions, I use a participatory and inquiry-based teaching style that encourages active learning and critical thinking. I collaborate with each student in filling any knowledge gaps prior to any math test and help them devise their own methods to answer problems.

Tutoring Experience:

I earned bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and South and Southeast Asian Studies. I believe in the power of multicultural education and that education is a tool to help individuals service others. Well-versed in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, I enjoy inspiring my students to learn and strive for reaching their goals.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a Freirean teaching philosophy in which teacher and student learn from one another. I learn students' goals, learning styles, and problem-solving techniques in the first session, then try to make each lesson fun and relatable. My strength in positive reinforcement helps keep students motivated, while I'll find unique ways to explain concepts if necessary.
