Personal Description:

As a social science tutor, I look forward to working with you. I've been a classroom teacher for 22 years and both challenge my students and raise their expectations as we collaborate in the learning process. I was a gifted student challenged by life circumstances, and am here to unlock your desire and ability to learn.

Tutoring Experience:

I teach Secondary Language Arts (English), English as a Second Language, and K-12 Spanish and have taught AP Composition, AP Literature, and more. I have a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in teaching language arts. Also, I have attended various other colleges and programs along the way.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe it's important for students to "own" their learning process and encourage character, integrity, and working for what you want in life. When students have questions, I build their abilities to find answers for themselves. When difficulties are encountered, I work to find the source of the problem with the student, but inject humor and fun into the lesson too. All the while, I frequently use positive feedback and celebrate students' accomplishments.
