Personal Description:

I am a hardworking and responsible English teacher who has earned a BA with distinction in English Literature from Queens University. I dedicate myself to helping students use language more effectively to meet academic, work, or personal goals. My passion for writing all forms of prose has given me ample experience in crafting stories, essays, poems, and given me an eye for critical reflection and analysis.

Tutoring Experience:

16+ years of teaching experience at university level / private one on one and small group classes for ages 6+ and all skill levels. I have been teaching IELTS / TOEFL for this time as well and have helped many students score a 7 or higher on IELTS or a 100+ score on TOEFL. I have a year experience tutoring North American high school and university students in various forms of academic writing including essays and reports.

Tutoring Approach:

I follow the provincial achievement charts by using activities that help to encode knowledge, practice critical thinking /analysis, communication through effective writing, speaking and presentation skills. We also practice application by considering relevance of curriculum through personal reflection and in broader, historical, cultural contexts.
