Personal Description:
I am an upbeat and positive teacher and always want the best for my students. I am professional in my approach but also friendly and have high expectations. I am understanding and care a lot about the success of my students. That being said, I am always willing to explain, support and give feedback to my students and will do my best to ensure they understand the curriculum. I am able to develop a good rapport with my students and create a friendly and positive environment.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching now for 10 years in the Halton District School board. I currently teach at a high school in Oakville and have taught Geography, History, Civics, Careers and English over the years. However, my primary focus has been in grade 9 geography, grade 10 history and senior level geography and history courses. I have taught at a variety of levels from gifted clustered, academic and applied to the essential level. I have done tutoring more at school up to this point either at lunch or after school programs.
Tutoring Approach:
It is my goal to help students learn and improve and feel confident in their abilities. I would certainly use a friendly and positive approach when tutoring and provide students with different resources and strategies to help them feel they can succeed and improve in the subject. I would allow students to explain how they are feeling and to inform me of areas of difficulty so I know where to focus on.
