Information About Kaylee
Abbotsford tutorPersonal Description:
My name is Kaylee. I have a Bachelor's of Arts degree, with a major in English and a minor in French. I am currently working on completing a TESOL program so that I can teach English as a second language. I enjoy reading, trail running, hiking and biking. I love to travel and learn new languages and culture, thus my desire to teach English as a foreign language.
Tutoring Experience:
For the past couple of years, I have been volunteering with a program where I help individuals learn English through casual conversations and fun activities. Although it is an informal form of tutoring, this is my only experience in facilitating and helping individuals learn English.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring would entirely depend on the individual themselves. I would first and foremost ask what type of learner they are, whether that is visual, verbal, global, sequential, etc. I would teach through their preferred learning style. For example, if they are visual, I will try to incorporate some sort of visual component, that way they can see what they need to learn.
I am a kind and patient person. My goal would be to help them achieve, not provide strict and unhelpful feedback.
For actual methods of teaching, from my studies, I have learned various ways to undergo learning. From using acronyms, index cards, the SQ3R method (survey, question, read, recall, review) to using fun active ways of learning, like hands on methods of learning.
