Personal Description:

My name is Kate **Removed By Admin**and I am a recent graduate from McMaster University. I will be graduating in June with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Honours Integrated Science program and a minor in Physics. I will be pursuing a Applied Geophysics Master’s degree beginning in September. The Integrated Science program is one which has given me experience in many fields of science including Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Earth Science. My strengths lie in my diverse science background and interest in all sciences and how they work hand in hand. I myself am a hardworking student, and have excelled in University graduating with a 11.80/12 average.

Tutoring Experience:

One highlight of my undergraduate experience has been working as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for the past two years. I love science communication, and I find great joy in making science exciting for students who find a particular subject challenging. My role as a TA involved helping students in the labs, running office hours and study sessions, and offering online support.

Tutoring Approach:

My interest in tutoring stems from my experience working as a teaching assistant, and finding great joy in getting to know the students and their particular learning styles. My approach to tutoring, and teaching in general, is to meet a students individual learning needs by getting to know how they learn, and more importantly how they don't. Amongst all that is going on with Covid-19 I will be tutoring remotely over video call, and so this will present some challenges for many students. However, my goal is to come up with innovative and interesting ways to help students solve problems and cover concepts over video call. In my experience students have the greatest success when they feel capable and supported, and that is my primary goal going into any tutoring relationship.
