Personal Description:
I am passionate about teaching and love to see the light go on in student's eyes when they finally "get" what I am teaching them. I have three children, 2 girls and one boy, I have eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. I teach the Primary children in Sunday School and facilitate a Ladies Bible Study in my home. When I am not busy doing these things, I enjoy working on felt stocking kits. I have 2 Master's Degrees one in Elementary Education and one in Special Education.
Tutoring Experience:
I have 20 years of teaching experience. I taught second grade Native American students who were not fluent in their own language or English for 9 years, third grade for one year and elementary special education for a year and a half. I worked with Minnesota Reading Corps for 6 years, working with 16 first through third grade students on a one-on-basis for 20 minutes each focusing on their reading skills. I also volunteered in the kindergarten through third grade classrooms when I wasn't teaching. I have a year of online tutoring experience.
Tutoring Approach:
I use a eclectic form of teaching a little bit of everything. I believe all children can learn and seek to find the teaching method that works best for a particular student.
