Information About Justin
Miramichi tutorPersonal Description:
Hi there, I'm Justin, a graduate from the University of Waterloo, holding a Masters degree in Mathematics.
I've been tutoring and teaching in some capacity for six years now, in individual, group, and classroom settings.
I mostly teach math, but science (especially chemistry and physics) is something I also have experience with.
Tutoring Experience:
2016 - 2019: Teaching Assistant at UWaterloo.
2015 - 2016: Tutor at Oxford Learning.
2014 - 2015: Tutor at Sylvan Learning.
2013 - present: Personal tutor.
Tutoring Approach:
I find that students learn most when we can focus on doing a small number of examples in great detail. You might contrast this with a "theory first" approach in mathematics which some people do.
This can have the unfortunate effect of sounding very boring; not everyone wants to spend too much time doing examples. However, I'll contend that examples are only boring if the student isn't getting anything out of them, and it's my job to make sure that this isn't the case.
