Personal Description:
Bonjour!
Je m'appelle Julie, but many of my students call me Miss Julie. I am an OCT qualified French teacher, who specializes in working with students in the primary/ junior divisions (K-6). I have taught students in the core, extended and immersion streams. I am also a certified DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française) instructor and have worked with older students and adults alike in order to improve their French skills. I am currently becoming qualified to teach French in the intermediate division (7-10). I have been teaching French for the last three years.
I am currently working with the Near North District School Board as a French Immersion OT. I strive to create a fun and interactive environment for students, so that they will be excited to join my class every week. My main goal is for students to learn how to apply the French that they learn in class, so that they are not just memorizing information. I hope that my students start to love the French language as I do, and choose to pursue a French education.
Tutoring Experience:
- Head Language Tutor with my current company
- Online teaching with groups of up to 5 students
- Worked with ESL/ ELL students
Tutoring Approach:
I believe in game-based teaching and creating an interactive classroom. I know that it is not possible to have games in every lesson, but I do believe that it is possible to have fun in every lesson. I encourage students to take notes when needed, and I ask students to read out loud every class, no matter the subject.
