Personal Description:

I am a Certified Ontario Teacher, with Senior English Qualifications. I am currently teaching English at a YRDSB high school in newmarket. I began teaching in elementary schools, and I found my sweet spot in kindergarten. While my love is English literature and writing, what I truly find most meaningful is being able to inspire and engage my students in their learning, regardless of age, grade, or subject matter. Outside of literature and teaching, I am a passionate animal lover, fitness enthusiast, yoga instructor, and horseback rider. I love to laugh, whether its cracking jokes or being part of one, and I know that humour is a very powerful tool for connection, as well as teaching. I am looking forward to working with you!

Tutoring Approach:

Connecting with each of my students on an individual level, getting to know what unique strengths, needs, goals, and motivating factors they have. I want my students to be working in their zone of proximal development-- a place where they are continually building up their own confidence within themselves, competence in the subject we are tackling, and instilling in them a "growth mindset", so that they gain the skills and self-efficacy that they will need to continue to hone and develop their abilities, outside our sessions.
