Personal Description:
Dear prospective parents and tutees, I am an enthusiastic and dedicated individual that is majoring in engineering at the University of Toronto. I love everything about STEM and would love to share my passions with others by fostering younger individuals to understand more about the world from the eyes of an engineer. I am able to fluently speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese and I have a 3.84 cumulative GPA. Beyond my schooling, I am part of the University of Toronto Aerospace Team, where we build autonomous drones for National Competitions such as the USC competition 2019.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been a tutor in my high school for over 2 years which a handful of experience dealing with every type of student. The subjects that I have tutored were mainly American college-level preparation, including AP subjects, SAT reasoning and subject tests, and ACT. In particular, I tutored AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Physics, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, SAT Math and Chemistry, and SAT reasoning.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that tutoring works by making sure that the student understands everything from the ground up. This means that in order to understand higher level knowledge, they must first have a good conceptual understanding of the topic first. This is vastly different from a school system in which students receive a cookie cutter education with quizzes and tests every other week to keep the students on track. Because tutoring is one-to-one, I will make sure that the student understands something before we move on.
