London tutorPersonal Description:
I am a Doctoral student studying Microbiology & Immunology at Western University (London, Canada). My area of research focuses on how the bacteria in your gut can contribute to kidney stone formation. In addition to my research, I work part-time as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and a private tutor. I also volunteer with Let’s Talk Science, an outreach program where I prepare and teach science lessons to elementary-aged students to inspire them about science. In my spare time, I actively rock climb and brew my own beer!

Tutoring Approach:
My teaching philosophy is to ensure that you not only know the 'what' but also the 'why'. In my experience, this leads to a better understanding of the material and better test scores. My approach starts with breaking large concepts up into smaller ones. Here, I can explain the concepts to you using diagrams and two-way conversations. The next step is to have you explain the entire process to me. Throughout, I will ask key questions focused on your understanding. Once you can visualize the 'what' and the 'why', I will provide you support with answering your homework questions. This method will give you a complete and thorough understanding of the concept so that you will have a strong base of knowledge that is critical to learning new concepts in class.
