Personal Description:

Hi! My name is Jill. I am a 23-year-old professional tutor and part-time student at the University of Winnipeg. I have been educated with the Red River College Creative Communications program. Currently, I am working towards my degree in creative writing. I tutor in English, focusing mainly on grammar, formal and creative writing, and even the nuances of English (recommended for those who speak English as a second language and/or new Canadians), as well as test prep in English, history, and social science programs. I tutor all ages.

Tutoring Experience:

I was an instructor with the Literacy Links program ran by the River East Transcona School Division, where I taught early years the basics of literacy and numeracy, including students new to Canada. Currently, the majority of my clients are those needing assistance in proofreading. I also write copy for many of my clients.

Tutoring Approach:

Everybody has potential, but we all learn in very different ways. Some of us are visual learners, some auditory, and some kinesthetic. I cater my tutoring services to fit the needs of the student, following a gentle and lively style of teaching, including aspects of word-association, engaging activities like roleplay (best for memorization of history and dates), and of course, forgiveness. I encourage effort without punishing error. Learning is all about trying without a fear of failure.
