Personal Description:
Hello! I have a passion for writing and biology with experience tutoring students in science, English, and mathematics (ages 14-18). Currently, I’m pursuing an HBSc. degree specializing in Biology and Anthropology. I have highly proficient writing skills, study practices, and knowledge of biology. I’ve receive awards for my academic achievement throughout my years in school (honour roll for all 4 years of high school, ‘Scholar’s Award’ for achievement in university, etc.). Moreover, I have experience with graphic design and visual arts—in my spare time I create posters, infographics, social media content, and other digital art for clubs and organizations. I’ve successfully completed courses in visual arts and set/sculpture design in addition to creating my own artwork. I would love to share my knowledge and learning experiences to help other students succeed in their academic careers!
Tutoring Experience:
Tutoring: I have experience tutoring students, ages 14-18, in the subject areas of science, mathematics and English (specifically writing/reading skills, vocabulary, grammar). Please note that I unfortunately do not have experience teaching English to ESL students.
Teaching: I have volunteered at a local art gallery that holds visual art classes for elementary school aged children (ages 6-14). I taught foundational drawing and painting (acrylic) techniques along with other basic concepts like colour theory.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring will depend largely on my student and their individual learning needs. Regardless of a students’ academic background, I believed that practising learned concepts, applying theory and knowledge to different situations, and hands-on learning is an incredibly rewarding method for any individual. This allows for a deeper understanding of the subject matter that a student is learning. Most importantly, this approach can allow my students to carry the skills I’ve taught them throughout their academic career and be successful after tutoring.
