Personal Description:
Hi! My name's Jeff and I studied both engineering and economics at university to a high level. I worked as an economist overseas for six years before entering journalism -- now, I write about science and economics for various newspapers in Canada and abroad.
I'd love to help you (or your child) understand more about math, science, and economics! I've always loved gaining and spreading knowledge, and both private tutoring and journalism allow me to do this.
FYI, I tutor only online, not in person.
Tutoring Experience:
I tutored throughout my studies, both in Canada (mostly math, chemistry, and physics at the high school/first-year university level) and in the United Kingdom (mostly math, chemistry, and physics at the bachelor's and master's level).
I also served as a graduate teaching assistant at the London School of Economics, tutoring first-year economics during the regular academic year and second-year macroeconomics and third-year econometrics at the LSE Summer School.
Tutoring Approach:
I like to first make sure students understand the basics before building on them/learning more advanced concepts. (Obviously, this works best if we have more time to work together!) I also like to have the student explain things to me, to make sure that he/she really gets the material. You don't really know something until you can explain it to someone else!
I care about each student's progression and success and can tailor my sessions to individual needs and weaknesses.
