Personal Description:

Hi! My name is Jared and I am a fully registered elementary and secondary school teacher from Canada. I have worked with students and adults of all ages throughout my career and have a wide variety of experience teaching English/Literacy, Math and Music. As an educator, I am creative, engaging and dedicated to the success of my students. As such, my approach to teaching is very student centred. I focus on catering to the specific demands of each student which helps me to meet the needs and interests of those I am working with. I always strive to balance curriculum expectations with the need to learn about and practice solving relatable real-world issues and I work with my students by inspiring, motivating and caring about their interests and needs.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching in the classroom for almost 5 years now and tutoring for just as long. I have taught and tutored in all of the following subjects: English/Literacy, Math, History and Music. I have taught students as young as ten years old and as old as 63 (not to mention everything in-between). My experience is not limited to the classroom either as I have spent many hours working with and supporting the learning of other teachers across Canada through both in-person and online workshops and professional development seminars that I run myself.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring enables my students to want to learn and see themselves achieve success. I work in-tandem with my students to ensure that they feel supported and feel that they have the knowledge and agency to explore and extend their learning on their own. I provide students with the tools and work habits necessary to be successful during our sessions so that they can then take those skills with them into not only the classroom but the real-world.
