Personal Description:

Janice is a twice certified (Ontario and Quebec) teacher at the junior (grades 4-6), intermediate (7-9), and high school (grades 10-12) levels. With close to two decades science teaching and curriculum development experience with provincial governments, Janice has extensive knowledge of science skills and knowledge progressions of learning within the pan-Canadian K12 framework and is highly skilled at making relevant real-world connections for students to support deeper learning.

Tutoring Experience:

Since 2005, she has been a learning coach and mentor, both face-to-face and virtual environments for public and private school learners. She sees infinite possibilities for using tech for good to support learning services at a distance. Janice has a background in geosciences (geology) and kinesiology, but has provided instruction for a range of sciences -- life science, physical sciences and earth and space sciences. She has been exclusively offering online tutoring services since 2017.

Tutoring Approach:

Janice's approach to tutoring is a relational one. It begins with establishing a relationship of mutual respect and cooperation. Time is taken to cultivate a connection to students through active listening and by showing interest in their growth and development, beyond the subject matter.
