I have experience as a tutor teaching English, English as a Foreign Language, Geography, and Religious Studies. I am also able to provide Math support. My services are well reviewed on the UK First Tutors site.
I have been a careers consultant for 4 years, during which I provided bespoke support for students and early careers researchers to allow them to reach their career goals. I have worked in recruitment for a prior 2 years, and have a keen understanding of the skills and qualities that both Fortune 500 companies and Higher Education Institutions are seeking when they are recruiting high school and university graduates.
Tutoring Experience:
Associate Fellow in Higher Education certified by Advanced Higher Education UK
3 years teaching experience within a Top UK University
2 years private tutoring experience ages 8-16
4 years as a 1-2-1 careers consultant, both privately and at Newcastle University
Tutoring Approach:
Tutoring provides the opportunity to really understand a students needs and optimal working environment. I aim to provide a unique service to each student, focussing each session on the areas that they want to improve.
I work collaboratively with parents and students to prioritise subject areas and topics to maximise the time each student spends with me.
I have found that most of my work centres around improving the confidence of my tutees: oftentimes they have the skills, but not necessarily the confidence to apply them. I therefore place a lot of emphasis on building a rapport with my students, creating a comfortable environment so that I can provide directive, specific, and useful support.
I am honest and critical in my written feedback, but ensure to deliver it in a manner which will improve future work and not to undermine the confidence of my students.
