Personal Description:
My name is Harleigh. I am a super active person, and really enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring new places. I have always loved learning new things, especially anything to do with science and numbers. One thing that I enjoyed most about my education was the amazing teachers I had along the way. I think that a great teacher is fundamental in a students ability to get the most out of the material as well as to have a passion for learning. I currently work as a lab analyst where I am constantly using my skills in analytical chemistry and mathematics. Training new analysts coming onboard is a big part of my job responsibilities, and one aspect of my job that I really enjoy. I not only have passion for learning new things, but also to teach new things to others.
Tutoring Experience:
I have tutored family and close friends in subjects such as math, chemistry, physics, and biology at the high school level. In my job, I am constantly teaching analytical techniques, explaining software and illustrating data processing methods to new analysts.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe, especially with science and mathematic based subjects, the best way to learn is by practicing with examples. I want to make sure the students understand the core of the material and then showcase that in their problem solving skills. I also like to demonstrate the importance of attention to detail. In a lot of test environments, the stress of that situation can cause silly mistakes to happen. If students create a methodical approach to any problem, they will be able to remain level headed and truly showcase their understanding of the material.
