Personal Description:
I went to Elementary and middle school in South Korea and I went to Secondary in Canada. I achieved 99 percent in grade 12 Bio and Calculus and 95 percent in grade 12 pre-calculus. I recently finished my marketing program at Algonquin College this summer. And I was on the Dean’s Honours list for the second semester.
Tutoring Experience:
While I was in Korea in 2019, I taught English to Elementary school students. There were 10 to 12 students in the class. In the lower grade class, I did storytelling, and in the upper-grade class, I taught academic English.
Tutoring Approach:
Students learn in different ways and at different rates. If my student does not understanding the material, I cannot get frustrated. Instead, try teaching the material in a different way to see if it helps the student. A tutor is here to help a student beyond school. Not only help them to understand academic concepts but also create confidence by supporting them mentally. I would ask the student if they need help on any other topics or subjects. In order to identify where the student requires assistance, I could review test and homework scores as well as complete practice sheets to identify the areas we need to focus on. If my student is struggling on a particular question or topic during our session, we can return to that topic after completing the homework and spend extra time reviewing that topic. Answer any questions or concerns the student may have to ensure their best understanding. The first thing I would do is try to understand why they are slacking off, is there something going on? Do they not understand the topic? Have the lost motivation? After identifying the issue I will prepare the necessary items for the student's success. I believe that every student is different. As a tutor it is my job to work with the student in order understand what works best for their academic success. Are they a visual learner? Do they follow schedules well?
A few examples of methods could include: schedules, activities, quiz, games,
