Personal Description:
A passionate educator, with experience tutoring K-12 and university level courses, who strives to spread meaningful change by assisting students acquire the knowledge and language necessary to not only be effective but also exceptional writers, critical thinkers and objective communicators.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been tutoring social science subjects such as political science, international studies, sociology and history since 2015. The majority of my tutoring services for undergrads consists of clarifying complex concepts/theories and assisting with outlining and academic essay writing that meets the standards and conventions of writing at the university level. Furthermore, I have proofread hundreds of SFU/UBC applications and academic essays for countless students who have been successfully admitted to a university.
Aside from my undergrad services, I also have been teaching ESL (vocabulary, speaking reading, grammar and writing) at a private college in Vancouver Berton since 2015. I enjoy teaching because it has made me more versatile at dealing with student group dynamics and anticipating daily challenges.
Additionally, volunteered as a language facilitator and translator. As a matter of fact, it was while volunteering as an adult literacy tutor and a conversation facilitator for LINC and a citizenship class at ISS of BC that I discovered my passion for teaching.
Furthermore, I have had the privilege of teaching and supervising international students for a private college's summer camp consecutively since 2016.
Lastly, I have years of knowledge and expertise in IELTS, TOFEL and SAT preparation.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is founded upon the belief that educators must act as supporters and mentors that can guide students to unlock their hidden potentials and talents. Depending on the subject and level, my methods may vary but I often emphasize critical thinking, inquiry and scaffolding as effective teaching strategies to aid students in developing self-learning skills that will allow them to be able to effectively communicate and grasp the difficult language, concepts and ideas in a multitude of texts across in array of academic fields.
