Personal Description:
I am a second year University student studying Biology and Political Sciences. I am hoping to pursue my masters degree in Marine Biology and Environmental Policy after graduation. I love helping people learn and develop an interest in the subjects I'm most passionate about.
Tutoring Experience:
I have multiple years experience as a peer tutor for both elementary and high school age children in sciences, maths, French and English courses. I self studied for the SAT and scored in the 93rd percentile. I volunteered at my elementary school throughout high school and worked with 6th-8th grade English classes, I often helped edit essays, perfect speeches and presentations, and worked with students to improve their understanding of various writing formats.
Tutoring Approach:
I have had extensive experience working with other tutors and helping students. All too often a student can leave a session without having absorbed the content worked on with their tutor. I have a hands on and dynamic approach which ensures a deeper understanding of the chosen subject. Most topics build on basic concepts and sometimes those get glossed over too quickly. I make sure my lessons involve the student as much as possible and check their understanding throughout.
