Information About Georgia
Aurora tutorPersonal Description:
My name is Georgia and I am currently in my second year at the University of Toronto. I am double majoring in English and Criminology and working towards becoming a lawyer. I was an honour roll and Canadian scholar student in high school and I am passionate about reading, writing and the English language.
Tutoring Experience:
I am currently assisting university, college, and high school students with their essays. I am able to provide direction and constructive feedback on essays, ensuring that students meet the criteria, as set out by their instructor and make suggestions towards improving their work. I also correct formatting, structure, grammar, and punctuation. I have extensive experience in the different styles of formatting essays such as MLA, APA, Chicago, etc. I can also correct bibliographies and works cited as well as make corrections to text citations.
I also can work with younger, elementary-aged students who are struggling with reading.
Tutoring Approach:
I ask students what they are to do for each assignment and help them develop a strong thesis statement (if needed). I then read the students essay to make sure their arguments are clear and reflect their thesis. When an argument is not clear, I can assist in organizing paragraphs to develop a logical, cohesive essay. At the same time I correct punctuation and grammar to the highest of standards.
Younger students who are struggling with reading are assessed to determine areas of need, and a plan is implemented to foster improvement.
