Information About Gabriella
Dartmouth tutorPersonal Description:
I am an aspiring language teacher with a passion for languages and a demonstrated history of working in tutoring, teaching, and other education-based settings. I am a native French and Italian speaker, but I am also fluent in English and Spanish. I am highly organized, reliable, committed, and adaptable. I hold an Honours International Trilingual Bachelor of Arts in French and Hispanic Studies, and I will be starting my Bachelor of Education degree in September 2021. In my spare time, I enjoy staying active, cooking, reading, and going to cafés.
Tutoring Experience:
Since September 2020, I have been a Full-Time French Language Monitor and Teacher’s Assistant at an elementary school. I plan and facilitate daily oral communication and writing activities, games and workshops, in French, with various whole classes of grade 4, 5, and 6 students, in a French immersion context, and support various teachers in French classes or in classes taught in French, by helping students with assigned work and individual reading.
I have been a freelance tutor since December 2014. I tutored students of various ages, creating exercise sheets to aid the students with grammar and reading exercises, and helped prepare international students and young professionals for their IELTS exams by coaching them in writing and offering them remote tutoring.
From January to August 2020, I was a French, English, and Mathematics Teacher at a school support program. I taught and guided small groups of students aged 5-15 in French as a Second Language, as well as English (reading, writing, comprehension, grammar, and phonics) and math, through individualized programs, in person and via Zoom.
Some of my other relevant experiences include, but are not limited to, Assistant Teacher in Spain from September to December 2019, and Summer Camp Counselor from June 2013 to August 2016.
Tutoring Approach:
Every student learns differently, so I adapt to the needs of my students. I always maintain a friendly and positive attitude towards students, to make them as comfortable as possible. However, I also encourage them to challenge themselves and think critically, while developing their independence.
