Personal Description:
Nice to Meet you! My name is Ethan and I'm currently an undergraduate Chemistry student at the University of Toronto! I adore the field of Chemistry and have achieved above an 80% for every chemistry course I have taken so far in university! In the future, I plan to become a chemist focused on formulating pharmaceuticals. My main hobby is music. I am classically trained as a pianist for 7 years and am now teaching myself how to play the guitar. I understand Chemistry is a demanding subject and I want to do my best to help you all overcome it. I personally believe Chemistry can be simple once you overcome the initial barrier as it involves less abstract concepts than physics and extensive memorization than biology. I'm also equipped to instruct Math and physics at a high school level. I'm excited to be working with you.
Tutoring Experience:
I had experience working as a volunteer note-taker/tutor in my university courses. I upload my personalized notes for other students to access after every lecture to help condense the material into something easy to digest and study with. I plan to use this experience to create effective lesson plans for my students.
Tutoring Approach:
My objective as a tutor is to be as flexible as possible to fit my students' needs and learning style. Whether you plan to fast track or just want to review topics for a test, I can offer an in depth-review of in class topics that strictly adhere to the exact curriculum for the course you are taking. Feel free to request any specific topic you need to focus on!
Chemistry is mostly a problem-solving oriented subject, hence my approach to tutoring is more focused on encouraging students to be comfortable with approaching unorthodox problems and applying information into the real world. I will test my student understanding throughout my lessons to ensure they can develop a deep understanding of the subject. I am also open into helping students with their homework.
Additionally, I can also offer advice and tips on studying for exam, and any future concerns regarding studying the sciences at a post-secondary level! I would gladly help with any chemistry related questions you have!
