Personal Description:
I love to learn and I love it, even more, when I can help others to achieve their best in their studies. Besides teaching, I enjoy cooking, spending time with my kids and dogs, taekwondo, reading, and movie nights! Given our unfortunate global situation, I am hoping to make a difference in the lives of students that are no longer able to attend regular classes. Hopefully, I can also make a difference to parents that don't know where to begin in helping their kids to stay connected with learning.
Tutoring Experience:
I am a BC qualified teacher with extensive knowledge of the science and math curriculum up to Grade 10. I am a specialist in chemistry, with over 10 years of experience, in both a university setting and in high school classrooms. With my experience, I can help students prepare for final exams (IB, AP, university chemistry). I am passionate about helping kids in STEM, and volunteer my time to inspire students in science fair.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is to first assess the student's level of understanding, compare that with what they are expected to do, and then help to bridge the gap. This can include extra practice questions, guided examples, and direct instruction. My goal is always to help the student improve their knowledge so that they are well prepared for what comes next. I run online tutoring sessions, primarily using Google, Skype, or WhatsApp. I am actively exploring other options to make the tutoring sessions as interactive as possible.
