Personal Description:
Hi! My name is Erin and I have always been interested in becoming a tutor. In highschool, I exceeded in University English for all 4 years of school. I graduated with the French as a Second Language Certificate and I also graduated with honors. I am currently serving with the Canadian Armed Forces, however, the pandemic has forced me to take on another civilian job in a factory which doesn't pay well and the conditions are not so good. I thought now would be a great opportunity to apply my skills as an English tutor!
Tutoring Experience:
I have coached recreational soccer for children of all ages for about 5 years in the summer, and I have also been working with children as a daycare teaching assistant ever since I was around 13-14 years old. At first, I volunteered as a "big buddy" as the daycare calls it since I was too young to actually teach any children since I was still a child myself! But as I grew into a young adult, I was supervising and teaching children as young as 4.
Tutoring Approach:
I think that everyone learns differently and at different speeds. It is important to me that the individual who is learning isn't made to feel like a failure if they don't understand something. I remember when I was very young, I wasn't too good at math and the tutor was getting frustrated with me which made me feel, well, terrible! I don't want any student to feel that way.
