Personal Description:

I have taught English subjects to students from a variety of backgrounds at all levels. Through hands-on instruction, I work 1-on-1 with students to help them build solid skills in reading, writing, and more. I can provide supportive feedback, test prep for the ACT English and Writing, and otherwise assist them as they progress through their coursework.

Tutoring Experience:

I began teaching in 1971 when I taught seventh-grade students phonics in my ninth-grade year. I worked as an Adjunct Instructor in History and Humanities at several colleges. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Music and then a master's degree in African Area Studies.

Tutoring Approach:

My goal as an English tutor is to help my students achieve success. To that end, I strive to show my invested interest in their development, whether they are working on mastering the writing process or need guidance on college essays. I can adapt my approach to suit their needs and the obstacles they face.
