Information About Elizabeth
Waterloo tutorPersonal Description:
Hello! My name is Elizabeth and I am a graduate student at the University of Waterloo, studying Chemical Engineering. I have a passion for STEM and I love teaching! I'm especially interested in math and chemistry, and will come to any science lesson prepared with countless stories about all sorts of differen**Contact Detail Removed**ments!
Tutoring Experience:
My earliest experience in this area was as a volunteer as part of a Kumon reading and math program several years ago, primarily working with young children. Since then, I've had the opportunity to serve as a Teaching Assistant for Nanotechnology Engineering students pursuing their undergraduate degrees, and I also spend my free time participating in a club which aims to teach people how to make crafts at a variety of levels.
Tutoring Approach:
While it is obviously important for students to be able to find the solution at the end of a problem, I believe that the most important thing to learn is actually the process for how to get there. I aim to impart problem-solving skills that can be applied to a variety of subjects so that even when a question may not make sense at first, my students will always know what steps they should follow in order to understand what is being asked and what approach they should try to take. This is highly influenced by my own engineering education, as well as my individual experiences as someone who has often needed to find alternative ways of understanding material that is presented to me.
