Information About Elizabeth
Toronto tutorPersonal Description:
Hi there! My name is Elizabeth and I have always had a passion for English literature and language, especially through history. I have worked as tour leader at Black Creek Pioneer Village to groups of students, from Pre-K to University.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been tutoring one on one and in small groups since 2013, including at a Toronto location of the Oxford Learning Centre. I am very familiar with the International Baccalaureate high school program, having received their English certification myself. I received my BA with Honours at Carleton University and have since been studying in UK based institutions and working for the Canadian governmental archives.
Tutoring Approach:
I love making information understandable for my students in the way that will stick with them best. One of my favorite examples of this is having a young aspiring sports journalist have a think about which Shakespeare character would be best on his basketball court - Hamlet, the overthinker, or Othello, who acts too fast? Making historical texts and stories relevant to the person you're addressing makes all the difference in whether they connect, understand, remember and write great compelling essays!
