Hi! My name is Ed . I have a bachelors in Chemistry, a masters in nanotechnology and a research masters in Physics. I have been a freelance tutor for over 5 years, specialising in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Biology. I find tutoring to be an incredibly rewarding profession, especially when my students reach the goals they have been working towards.
Tutoring Experience:
Over the last 5 years I have taught a wide age range of students Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths. From volunteering to teach nanotechnology to primary school students in disadvantaged areas in Dublin, to helping university graduate students achieve their goal of entering Medical school (GAMSAT). The majority of my experience lies within Leaving Cert (both primary and secondary level). I also have experience teaching the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum as well as University level chemistry, biology and physics.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that a core understanding of the learning materials is key to exam success and long-lasting knowledge of a subject. Memorization works temporarily but doesn’t lead to mastery of a subject. l enjoy using real world examples to explain difficult topics in order to keep lessons light, energetic and fun while doing mock tests along the way. I will start with the basis of the problem and work towards the more difficult material, doing exam papers along the way. I can tutor one-on-one or in groups.

My Y12 daughter has improved significantly in chemistry since she started sessions with ED.
With time, hard work and dedication any one can become an expert in any subject. To have the ability to transfer this knowledge to another person with with such ease & efficiency is what I call talent.
Ed posses a natural ability to teach. It is gift that can not be learnt.
I am actually reluctant posting this for fear of blocking Ed's schedule ! Thank you so much Ed
I would not hesitate in recommending Ed to any student
Sent timely feedback and connected well to my son.
From student: I felt very comfortable and relax with my turor.Easy to get along with and goes through definitions and explanations in a clear and concise manner. Explain questions with good answer structures and key words to use . Provides and uses real exam questions for lessons and homework and encourages linking back to prior knowledge and making connections to reinforce what you have learnt. Thank you Edward
Helped me so much with my physics course for the Leaving Cert, Ed is so amazing at explaining things in simple terms especially certain things that I couldn’t get the grasp on ,
Couldn’t recommend enough.
He was quickly able to assess the needs and tailor his sessions to them.
Eoin has benefited hugely from this, in terms of confidence, knowledge and ability.
Ed is very personable, as well as accomplished, and this has been very beneficial in getting straight to effective help.
We are most grateful and could not recommend highly enough.
Our 16-year-old son enjoys working with him and talks heaps about what he is learning; it is great to see his passion.
It is obvious that Ed loves what he does and is great at communicating with us all.
Highly recommended.
Edward has a fantastic way of explaining and helping them to gain confidence in maths! I would highly recommend Edward.
