Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Diana and I am an Engineering student currently attending Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. I am 19 years old and proficient in mathematics. I will gladly offer tutoring in that subject if I am able to :)

Tutoring Experience:

I have tutored at the DDO library in Montreal many years ago for one year. I tutored little children in mathematics as I was only 12 years old at that time. As time went by, I continued to tutor informally online. I helped many people in various subjects ranging from English to science and maths up to high school level education. From there, I started giving 1 on 1 tutoring to a few students, some of which were diagnosed with conditions such as ADHD and autism. This has helped me figure out the correct approaches to handle tutoring for various learning disabilities and adapt my method to suit their needs. Furthermore, I was also recommended by English teacher in CEGEP to take part in the English Writing Tutor's program for one semester, where I tutored as my school's writing center. Finally, I also got teacher recommendations to tutors for subjects such as chemistry and physics, but never went through with it.

Tutoring Approach:

I typically like to ask my students if they have any specific questions they want to be addressed. Whether is it a homework question they have trouble with or a whole concept that needs to be re-explained, I tackle that first. After that is done or if the student has no question, we start to work on whatever topics the student has the most difficulty with in order to help them prepare for exams. I give them problems to solve and if I see them struggling I take a step by step approach to ensure that they understand the correct procedure for approaching the given problem. I am a very patient person so I will make sure the student understands before proceeding.
