Personal Description:

As a teacher, I believe strongly that there is more to learning than simple rote memorization. Education is about understanding ideas and concepts and how they relate, not simply memorizing facts and figures. My goal as an educator is to encourage my students to think independently and critically and to develop on their own.

Tutoring Experience:

I am currently working on my undergraduate degree. At the moment I am mostly a math tutor, although I also teach programming, science, and study skills. I like to incorporate visual aids in my exercises, because I feel this is very effective for certain students and I want to make sure that I can get through to as many different types of learners as possible.

Tutoring Approach:

In terms of my general tutoring approach, I'm very goal-oriented. I like to help my students set goals and then achieve them, because this generates a real feeling of justified accomplishment, and makes them work harder and learn better. I also like to focus on substance and method, because it is very important when trying to solve problems that you take the right approach and solve these problems in the correct manner.
