Personal Description:

I am a Concordia graduate and hold a B. Ed. specializing in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language. That being the case I am adept at teaching not only all aspects of the English language, but also Spanish and Social Studies. Originally from Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles, I was educated in an International Baccalaureate high school affiliated with a US school. I attended university in the United States, as well as having the opportunity to study for two semesters on the S.S. Universe Campus. I have visited over forty-five countries on five continents. Additional fluent languages include: German, French and Spanish. English native speaker.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a communicative approach and methodology to teaching; whether it be formally or informally. This is an excellent way of getting the information across. However, I do use rote methods when needed as is necessary with certain areas of learning when one must absorb more technical information.

As an experienced teacher, I am able to deal with all types of personalities as well as individuals from a variety of backgrounds. I possess competence teaching and working with multi-cultural/multi-lingual students and parents, and have innovative, practical and effective capability in developing and implementing teaching materials. I am also effective in the assessment of students’ levels and needs, and adapting curriculum to those needs.
