Personal Description:
I completed a Bachelor of Arts in English and another in History, Master's-level course work in Canadian History and am in the process of completing my MBA at Edinburgh University, Scotland.
In elementary school, I was not focused, could not write, and was consistently distracted by peers and anything other than my studies. In high school, I self-studied, was an avid reader and worked really hard to create positive relationships with my instructors. At that point, I became more confident and developed a drive to learn and teach English to my peers.
Tutoring Experience:
My first teaching assignments were peer to peer learning in highschool. I went to a prominent hockey high school, and peer taught my classmates IB English while they taught me physics. This was a successful opportunity.
My formal teaching experience includes 3 years as a teaching assistant, marking history and engineering papers, providing writing workshops and leading honours-level seminar classes. Since 2012, I have been teaching English Communications, Technical Communications, English Upgrading, Marketing, and Management in Calgary, Alberta.
My specialty is in breaking down learning barriers and pre-conceived ideas about what writing should look like, and assisting students in gaining confidence and clarity in their verbal and written communication skills.
My personal background as a singer and dancer has allowed me to share my positive and extroverted learning approaches in the classroom, and through learning technologies. My unique experience and perseverance as someone who struggled through primary school with learning allows me to look at each learner's individual needs with empathy and adaptive ideas for learning at the appropria**Contact Detail Removed**vel.
