Personal Description:

I have both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in English Literature from the University of Manitoba. Both my minor as an undergraduate and my Master's thesis were in Film Studies. I am also a comedian and humor writer, having been published in CBC Comedy, Splitsider, Bite.ca, The Beaverton, and DNAtured. I am qualified to teach both ESL (to ages 14 and up) and literature and essay writing to native English speakers.

Tutoring Experience:

I have extensive experience in ESL tutoring through the English Language Center at the U of M and on a freelance basis. I have also served as a teaching assistant through the ESL program at Employment Projects of Winnipeg.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching method is highly conversational and personable. I believe in helping students develop solutions and find answers on their own instead of simply lecturing and dictating to them. My approach is very adjustable, based on the needs of the individual student, and I like getting students engaged by bringing their own lives and experiences to bear on the subject of any given lesson.
