Personal Description:
I am a graduate of the History and Renaissance Studies joint degree doctoral program (I received my PhD in May 2012, my MPhil in 2009, and my MA in 2008). Additionally, I received my BA (honors) degree in History from the University of Alberta, and in 2005 I received an MA in History from the same institution. My doctoral dissertation was supervised by Keith Wrightson and was awarded the Hans Gatzke Prize for Outstanding Dissertation in a Field of European History. My work has been published in several scholarly journals and my monograph was published by the University of Toronto Press in 2017. While at Yale I was the holder of a four-year doctoral fellowship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. I am also a frequent presenter at conferences in Canada, the USA, and the UK.
My main areas of interest are the history of early modern England, the history of gender, the history of violence and mediation, and the history of early modern Europe.
I have taught several History courses at the University of Alberta, MacEwan University, and Yale, and have extensive archival experience.
I prefer to work mostly online with students as I have a young child at home that can make arranging in-person sessions difficult, but I am also typically able to arrange for one-hour in-person meetings as warranted.

The course was designed by me and awarded placement in the 2012 academic calendar by the Department of History.

Tutoring Approach:
I have extensive experience working one-on-one with students to help them succeed. My approach to tutoring (and teaching) involves working closely with students to assess their own challenges and then collaboratively strategizing solutions. I also endeavour to inspire students to be active learners and to ignite a genuine interest in the material that they are working with.
