Information About Claire
Ottawa tutorPersonal Description:
Hi! I'm Claire, and I am looking to get back into tutoring after a hiatus… I figure that it would help students who aren't getting the same classroom experience as previously to have some tutoring.
I recently completed a Masters in Public Policy at McGill University, and I am currently working as an economist with the Federal government. In my spare time, I enjoy cycle touring, running and yoga.
Tutoring Experience:
Tutoring experience: I started tutoring math with the High-school Projects and Endeavors (HYPE) organization at Queen's University and I was awarded the "Parent's Choice- Tutor of Distinction" award for the year 2012-2013.
Since returning to Toronto, I have taken on regular tutoring sessions with a couple of local high school students who are struggling to study for their final exams.
Tutoring Approach:
I'm an easygoing tutor, happy to help students for regular weekly sessions or for sessions immediately before a big test. I try to emphasize connecting concepts while I tutor to give students the tools to figure questions out on their own. In high school, I struggled with math but everything 'clicked' for me while doing my undergraduate degree in economics at Queen's, and this experience gives me an understanding of how to connect with students
I'm also fluent in French.
