Personal Description:
I am an adult in my late 20s. I have many hobbies including reading books on self improvement and philosophy. I love staying active by going for alot of walks and lifting weights. I am also very musical and sing in a couple bands. I am both a social person, as well as an introvert. I love getting to know people in a one-on-one type of exchange. If someone were to describe me in three words I believe they would say - honest, vibrant and loving.
Tutoring Experience:
I have two years of experience teaching adults Math and English skills. I taught them subjects such as; Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, Dividing, Fractions, Decimals, Percents, Algebra, Trigonometry and Geometry. I also taught subjects such as; Basic English (For Native and Non-Native English Speakers), Writing Essays (All levels), Creating and Preparing for Presentations, Grammar, Editing Skills, and Assistance Studying for Tests and Exams. I also have experience teaching English to newcomers to Canada and helping them prepare for the citizenship test.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is to let the student guide me as much as possible. Once I find out where they are at on a skill level, then I try to be a bit more procedural in my approach. It also depends on which subject I am teaching. For example with Math I find it is best to break it down into small manageable steps. With English, I find it is better to find templates and also to do alot of talking to the student about brainstorming.
