Personal Description:
I have completed an undergraduate Honours degree in International Development Studies, a Masters of Theological Studies degree in Systematic Theology and a PhD in Systematic and Historical Theology. I am teaching in the Departments of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the University of Sudbury at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. My PhD in systematic and historical theology from Saint Paul University (2011) is in the field of postcolonial theological hermeneutics in the context of globalization.
Tutoring Experience:
I have extensive experience teaching across the post-secondary curriculum and have taught in a variety of formal and informal settings including, secondary schools as an Educational Assistant, Community College extension program to indigenous communities in northern Ontario, and post-secondary institutions as an assistant professor, sessional instructor and seminar instructor.
In addition to formal teaching, I have experience teaching youth, young adults and adults in less formal, workshop and adult learning settings, including adult and youth religious education/catechism, theatre, and improvisation training. For the past 5 years I have taught critical thinking and argumentation in the department of philosophy at Laurentian University.
Tutoring Approach:
As an academic and a teaching scholar, I am committed to the intrinsic value of post-secondary education, scholarship and academic honesty. My approach to teaching and tutoring academic skills for University level students focuses on developing the critical thinking skills and tools required to succeed in the humanities and social sciences. Individual tutoring is geared to the learning styles and goals of the student and may include more structured Zoom meetings, assistance with understanding course and assignment requirements, assistance with completing assignments including assistance with researching and writing academic papers.
