Information About Christopher
Ottawa tutorPersonal Description:
Hi, I'm Chris! I'm an open person who loves all things art, music and media. I love chatting about all sorts of things and am always excited to get to know new people. In my free time I love watching and making films, playing video games, writing and reading, or just chilling with a good TV show. I'm a hard worker that loves to help people, and I believe in open and honest communication to get work done.
Tutoring Experience:
I've tutored (and been tutored), so am familiar with different teaching styles and different learners. In the past I have tutored English to both foreign students and native speakers on both the language side and literature/analysis side. I have also tutored students in Art and Film/Media studies for the past few months. Working as an program assistant at my University's English Language Centre has also prepared me well for breaking down learning in an accessible way.
Tutoring Approach:
As a tutor, my priority is to get to know the student's learning style first. What kind of learning methods are more effective, what activities or solutions does a student respond to best. Getting to know the student better will also help me understand their goals and what to expect from them. I am a flexible individual who would love to cater the tutoring sessions to each student's strengths, while also cultivating a safe and comfortable space for them to ask questions. I strongly stand by the idea that it is okay to make mistakes or not know everything, as I'm still learning things myself as well!
