Information About Chris
Vancouver tutorPersonal Description:
I am a fourth-year biology student at the University of British Columbia and I am interested in becoming a high school science teacher after I graduate. I am passionate about helping people learn more about science, particularly children and teens. I am offering homework help and tutoring in biology and general science.
Tutoring Experience:
I am a first-time tutor, but I have previously worked as a classroom volunteer in a Vancouver high school. I have also volunteered with the Teacher Partnership Program at UBC Let's Talk Science, as well as a reading mentor with the Learning Buddies Network.
Tutoring Approach:
I always try to create a positive atmosphere when I help people learn. It is important to me that they can develop confidence in themselves so that they can become comfortable tackling academic concepts independently. As a tutor, I try to be a encouraging as possible. As well, I am very empathetic to the student's learning needs. I believe that it is critical to always be conscious of the student's understanding at each step of the learning process in order to make lessons as effective as possible.
