Personal Description:

I am a passionate Math teacher with 6+ years of experience across all levels of Mathematics. I have recently gone back to school at Queen's University full-time and am looking to tutor part-time. I have a Bachelors of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and Masters of Science (in Mathematics) from Carleton University. Having taught for several years in High School, Elementary School, and College, I am well acquainted with Ontario Math Curriculum and assessment strategies teachers use in the classroom. I am fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.

Tutoring Experience:

6+ years of experience teaching Math in High School, Elementary School, College, and Contest Math.
Detailed Experience:
Elementary - Grades 2-7 Math and Computer Studies in Ontario private elementary school.
Secondary - Grades 9-12 Math and Computer Science in Ontario private secondary school (including MTH1W, MPM2D, MHF4U, MCV4U, ICS2O, ICS3U).
Post-secondary - I have taught Business Math courses at Ontario College,
Contest - Taught contest and enrichment math for grades 3-7. Worked with the University of Waterloo to teach enrichment lessons for grades 5-6 and create enrichment material.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is based on understanding individual student needs and goals. My priority is to find strategies that work well for individual students and find out what each student's goals are so we can work together on an approach to reach them that won't feel pointless. I am happy to tutor in person or remotely. Depending on student needs, I am happy to help with their school homework or provide them with work to do during the tutoring session and additional resources/homework if they are interested, which I can mark and return with feedback.
