Personal Description:

Hey! My name is Chenxi and I am a grade 12 International Baccalaureate student at Bayview Secondary School.

I have always been involved within the community through volunteering, coaching, and I have interests in Mathematics and Economics. As a past tutee myself, I recognize the skills that a successful tutor must have and I seek to share my experiences that have helped me accomplish my academic goals of reaching a 95+ average in my Grade 12 year.

The process of learning is difficult, however anyone can succeed given the right tools and help.

Tutoring Experience:

I've had the pleasure of being a part-time tutor and I currently teach high school students learning advanced functions and calculus. I can also tutor grade 9, 10 and 11 math and my experiences within the IB program has helped me develop learning strategies that I share with all my students.

I take pride in helping one student improve their grade from the 70s to 90s in just 10 lessons and my past teaching experiences involve:

- Volunteering for the Town of Richmond Hill as a Badminton Coach (2017-2018)
- Assisting at LJB Badminton Club as an Assistant Coach for their March Break Camp (2018)
- Volunteering at Bayview Secondary School as a Math Tutor (2018)
- Tutoring Physics at Bayview Secondary School (2019)

Tutoring Approach:

I prepare lessons in advance after consulting with my students and I always provide a positive outlook towards learning. By adjusting lessons to fit each and every tutee's needs, I ensure that my students have a positive learning experience and work efficiently. I start lessons off by reviewing what the student already knows and then ask questions to engage the student. Instead of teaching students memorization, I ask questions and let my students think before jumping in and helping. After teaching, I provide students with practice problems and homework and work them through step-by-step. I am committed to helping all my students succeed and I'm always open to communicating and helping the student outside of lessons.
