Personal Description:

I appreciate my students' creativity, personality, and learning strengths. I approach them with humor, honesty, and warmth. I enjoy creating and presenting unique content that is helpful for learners of all ages. I have tutored students in English topics who achieved higher than average growth. I'm an English tutor who fosters creativity as my students learn to handle the English language.

Tutoring Experience:

I earned my bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature and went on to earn my master's degree in Education to become an English teacher for grades 7-12. I've worked as an educator for the past nine years in urban, multicultural, and clinical settings. I can tutor elementary through high school students in reading and writing, plus help students prepare for the English and Writing sections of the ACT.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in encouraging academic risk-taking. I establish a sense of trust and encourage inquiry and critical consciousness of identity, which includes the development of a consistent and personal writing voice. I also encourage curiosity and creativity. I value individuality and social justice. I find it important that I and my students understand each other's senses of humor.
