Personal Description:

Due to the pandemic, all tutoring sessions will be held online in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines. I am going into my third year as an English major at Concordia university in the Fall of 2021 after completing my first 3 semesters with honours. I am pursuing an education career after graduating with a bachelors degree and an after-degree, and I would love to further my skills as an educator. I am passionate both about learning and helping others to learn, and I greatly enjoy the courses I take, such as inclusive education and educational psychology. Outside of school, I love staying active, and I am a workaholic so I am fond of spending my time reading and painting. Some of my major achievements include having my art displayed in the Edmonton Convention Centre art show as a high school student, as well as achieving the Summa Cum Laude honours award in my grade twelve year.

Tutoring Experience:

After being referred by my professor to begin group tutoring sessions at Concordia after I achieved the highest mark on my psychology final, I began teaching lessons tailored to those who needed help in the subject. Not only did I teach the subject material, but I also shared tips and tricks to study more efficiently and write academic papers. In high school, I spent time as a volunteer swim instructor working with small children to teach them how to swim and be confident in the water. I have also observed classroom environments from grade one to grade 9 as part of my education program. I would love to employ the educational practices I learn about in my studies, as well as to share my knowledge gained from years of trial and error in my writing as an English student.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that practice is essential for any student, and with patient and specialized guidance by a tutor such as myself, anyone can achieve their academic goals. I love planning for continuous objectives to keep the student motivated as they accomplish specific tasks. I prioritize considering the student's individual needs to actually understand the material so that they have the ability to apply it, rather than surface-level knowledge that is soon forgotten. My expectation is that, with my guidance, the student will greatly improve both their confidence in their learning ability as well as their understanding of specific concepts they hope to develop.
